Impressions of Nature will present selected work of
living Maine printmakers whose art complements the Museum's natural
history collections and exhibits. The printmakers in the exhibition
draw inspiration from our natural world and use various print techniques
including wood block, lithograph and etching. During the exhibit, the
L.C. Bates Museum will host educational children's printmaking workshops
designed to stimulate creativity and understanding of the processes
of printmaking. Participants will use the Museum's historic Acorn Press
and other early presses to create different types of prints.
The museum will host an artist talk and reception for artists on June
25, 2006, 2-4 PM.
Artists in the Impressions of Nature exhibit are: Karen Adrienne,
Susan Amons, Holly Berry, Leonard Craig, Susan Groce, Paulette Gnidziejko,
Mary Hart, Allison Hildreth, Frances Hodsdon, Dahlov Ipcar, Stephen
Lindsay, Iver Lofving, Abbott Meader, Daniel Minter, Marguerite Robichaux,
Alice Spencer and Sharon Yates.
